Tolerance Rings are made from a strip of spring steel or stainless steel (the majority are made from stainless steel), with corrugations/waves in it, these corrugation/waves act like springs and are placed between two mechanical parts securing them together. Tolerance Rings are a hardened corrugated spring steel used for the centralisation and location of bearings in fluid couplings, they are also used in other applications of a tolerance fit where there is a relatively low surface to surface torque contact.
